Lake Wildwood
Most of the work out this way is inside the gates. Lake Wildwood houses are generally larger than the town average, which means more carpet, and they turn over often enough that a good share of the cleaning is for a sale or between owners.

What rural properties do to carpet
Three things show up here that rarely show up in town. Decomposed granite and red dust come in on boots all summer and turn to mud all winter, and the grit in it is abrasive — it cuts fibre every time somebody walks across a room.

How we clean it
Eight steps, from pre-spray to final vacuum, ending with an acid rinse. The rinse neutralises the cleaning agent, which matters more than it sounds: detergent left in a carpet stays sticky and pulls soil back in, so an unrinsed cleaning looks good briefly and then goes downhill faster than before.
Inspection and walkthrough, pre-vacuum, moving what can be moved, pre-spray, agitation to break the soil loose, hot water extraction, the acid rinse, then grooming and a final pass. The rinse is the step that separates a cleaning that lasts from one that looks good for a fortnight.
Heavily soiled and heavily used carpet is the specialty, which is a reasonable fit for a ranch property with dogs and a gravel drive.
Bigger houses, longer jobs
Properties out here tend to be larger than the town average, with more carpet and more ways for the outside to get in. A few things come up on nearly every job.
The entry takes the worst of it
On a gravel drive the first few feet inside the door do more work than the rest of the house put together, and they wear out first.
Dogs, and more of them
More outdoor dogs than in town, which means more grit, more hair and more odor work. Say so when you call so the right treatment comes along.
Filtration soil at the edges
The grey line along a baseboard is airborne soot drawn through the carpet edge, common in any house with a stove. It is detailed work, not a general clean.
Selling or renting out
Lake Wildwood turns over often, and floor coverings are the first thing a buyer notices in an empty house.

How does gate access work at Lake Wildwood?

We are on a well. Does that matter?
It can. Well water in this area is often hard, and hard water changes how cleaning agents behave and can leave mineral residue behind. It is worth mentioning when you call so it is accounted for rather than discovered.
We have a wood stove. Is that why the carpet looks grey?
Very likely, particularly along the edges of rooms and under doors. Fine soot is airborne and gets drawn through carpet at the edges, where air moves. It is a different pattern from a traffic lane and it needs treating differently.
How long does it take, and how long to dry?
A larger rural house is usually a full day rather than a half. Carpet is walkable in a few hours and fully dry within about a day, longer in a wet winter week.
